On the heels of Microsoft updating Windows with the Windows 8.1 Update, the company also released Windows Phone 8.1 the latest update for the mobile OS for developers. The company made the announcement on its Windows Phone blog this week.
Developer Preview WP8.1 gets an update!
Hi Brian!I had a question in mind. If i install developers edition in my Lumia 520, which is currently in warranty, it will void it. Then I update to Nokia cyan, will the warranty still be void?
Last week, Microsoft announced the features of Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1, the next iteration to its mobile operating system. As promised, the company has started rolling out the said update to developer preview users.
The update from WP8 to WP8.1 will be free for everyone, and as far as i'm aware, its compatible with all WP8 handsets. As others have said, you can use the developer preview if you want, but you risk running into problems.
To install this new SDK bits, you will need Windows 8.1 and Visual Studio 2013 Update 2 or later installed in your development environment. If you want to test your apps/games targeting Windows Phone 8.1 Update (GDR 1) in your WP8.1 compatible device, you must have to follow the steps mentioned here in order to get the latest OS update. Remember that, it is a pre-release version (only for developers who want to try out the latest bits) and thus it might consists of bugs/broken functionality.
This archive contains SDK releases and updates for earlier Windows and Windows Phone platform versions, as well as emulator releases supporting development and UX testing for mobile device experiences.
